Steve Smith has been one of my drum heroes for just about as long as I’ve played drums. I had the honor of working with Steve and Vic Firth recently on the final transcription for the VF Jams LIVE! performance Steve did for season 2 of that series.

Today, I wanted to break down a few bars of a GREAT solo Steve played for a Vic Firth Performance Spotlight a few years ago. These 19 bars are FULL of super quick licks that are very musical, and aren’t actually as difficult to play as you might think.
